This is the history of a woman entrepreneur running family wine business in the middle 60’s.
Martina Noya Rafecas was born in the heart of Penedès in 1925. Her family had a small business in the meat industry but they were always in contact with the land and vineyards, like a lot of countryside people those days. When she was young she spend, her childhood working in the vineyards during the harvest season and for help their family. A few years later she got married and she move to a farm house between the vineyards and there was when she start to focus in the wine business.
She spends all their live for keep the family and business together, working all for the same goal, produce high quality wines and sell it all over the world and get an international recognize brand. Her costumers were always the most important in her way to do business, getting their respect and trust. She got all this respect and nowadays they still remember her and their personal treatment to them, her energy, her empowerment and her vitality in life.
PENEDÈS
The Penedès is situated in a privileged territory halfway between Barcelona and Tarragona, between the sea and the mountains. The Penedès landscape is warm and harmonious, full of Mediterranean light, where, depending on where you are, you can see the sea, the Pyrenees or the Montserrat mountain range, here is where Martina born in a mix of innovation and tradition.
The story of this wine estate is one which is firmly rooted in the land and in the art of winegrowing. It requires constant effort to build solid foundations for the future of a winery which embodies the essence of the Penedès winegrowing and winemaking tradition. We thoroughly believe in a very strong work philosophy: organic and biodynamic farming. We are convinced that these farming techniques have a real future. Winegrowing is what gives the Penedès region its identity, and we have worked and we will continue to work to preserve it
ORGANIC & BIODYNAMIC FARMING
Innovation without lose the traditional methodology it has been always the wine estate work philosophy, being one of the firsts estates investing in organic farming wine more than 20 years ago.
As a wine company, we want to continue increasing our sustainability and the organic farming itself, that’s why we started to produce in Biodynamic Farming some years ago as our ancestors did. We are investing in innovation projects for use clean energy in all the winery processes, and research new sustainable ways to produce wine, with the goal to help other farmers to do it in the same way.
